Editor’s Pick: Philosophy The Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel
Perhaps you’re like me. I’m so busy that I get caught up in my skin care routine. Then one day I’ll catch my reflection to discover that my skin looks dull, flat, and lifeless. Don’t get me wrong, I value the routine. It works for my dry somewhat sensitive skin. I cleanse once nightly with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. While a daily exfoliating cleanser might be ideal for many, it can be a nightmare for me. By contrast, CeraVe is gentle and doesn’t leave my skin feeling scrubbed and tight. CeraVe works for me most of the time. Yet, because it’s not a scrub, I know that I am not exfoliating my skin as much as I should. Fortunately, I’ve assembled a small arsenal of products that help to restore my skin’s vibrancy.
One of the best performing tools in this arsenal is The Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel from Philosophy. I can’t recall how I discovered this product but I’m so glad it came into my life. At $72, The Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel is a bit pricey. But the results are worth it. Philosophy describes it as “a two-step, in-home peel that resurfaces and rejuvenates sun-damaged, hyper-pigmented and aging skin.” Philosophy further claims that the peel delivers peptides and vitamin C to the skin as it is being rapidly exfoliated. It resurfaces and replenishes the skin at the same time. Also, compared to a professional peel, there is no downtime. In full disclosure, I have never had a professional peel. My review is solely based on this skin care product.
Don’t let the “two-step” description scare you. This peel is easy to use and takes no more than 5 minutes.
I start by applying a small amount (about a teaspoon) of the Vitamin C/Peptide Resurfacing Crystals to clean, dry skin. After it is fully applied, I gently massage it in a circular motion over my entire face for up to 60 seconds. A stern warning to all: DO NOT SCRUB. This is important especially for those with sensitive skin like me. I know you may be tempted but trust me. I did some hard scrubbing once and regretted it. I thought it would work better. WRONG. My skin was irritated for days. I learned this lesson so you won’t have to.
After massaging the crystals onto the skin, I apply the Lactic/Salicylic Acid Activating Gel. I live for this step because as you apply the gel, there is a warming sensation. It’s brief but I am fascinated every time. Rinse after 2 to 3 minutes. That’s it!
Well, technically that’s it for the peel. I typically use this product just before bed. Thus, I follow-up with my normal nightly ritual. This includes a serum, moisturizer and eye cream.
WOW! Immediately after rinsing, my skin feels soooooo soft. At this point, it’s hard for me to stop touching my face because it feels so good. I’ve also noticed that my skin seems to absorb my nightly serum and moisturizer more easily. It’s typically over the following days when I notice the visible difference. My skin looks radiant and alive. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just a sucker for beauty products. But I’ve received several compliments on my skin immediately after using this product. I’m a believer.
I kick myself that I don’t use this product on a weekly basis as recommended by Philosophy. I get so busy that I often forget until I get to the point where my skin needs an injection of life. But all the same, I am pleased that it works when I need it to work.
Are you seeking softer, smoother skin, with a boost of radiance? If so, then I recommend Philosophy The Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel. Please remember to NOT scrub the crystals. A gentle massage is enough. Also, don’t forget to follow-up with your favorite moisturizer.
